The Cost of Undiagnosed Literacy Difficulties

Children and young people with behaviours that challenge the mainstream education system are frequently mislabelled with behavioural, mental health, or intellectual difficulty rather than looking deeper to identify the root causes of any challenges and missing the opportunity to identify their unique profiles of strengths and giftedness. As a dyslexic and dyspraxic professional, I personally understand the importance of receiving the right support and developing effective compensatory strategies so that the unique skills and gifts of neurodiversity can truly shine. This is the outcome that every young person with literacy or specific learning difficulties deserves.
